I'm not a Drift Boat expert but I see an awful lot of them floating down the Clearwater from my deck. Very few of them are fiberglass and none of the guides I know use fiberglass.
I don't know how they perform but the wood ones are sure classy.

Is one aluminum and one glass? Yes, Willie is Aluminum and Clackacraft is glass. Go glass without a doubt! The first time you don't hang up on a rock think of me.

Honest opinion? I'd ask on a drift boat forum. Sycamore
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

I'd go with the Willies. I've fished out of both and like aluminum in a drift boat.

I'd say it depends on what kind of water you're fishing. If I was going to be banging off of rocks frequently I'd probably go with the Willies and coat the bottom with glovit. Either one will work though. If you could give them a test row that would probably seal it for you. Some drift boats just suck to row and don't hold an anchor worth a damn. FWIW most guides up here use Willies and any on the used market bring a premium price.

I've had both but not in that size. I ran a 16' ssg clackacraft and now have a 17x60 willie. 18 is a pretty big boat but if you're set on that size I would go willie. I know pulling plugs or bait and diver is much easier with the willie. Mine tracks straighter than the glass boat ever did.

And if you go aluminum look up a product called Wetlander as a bottom coating. Impressive stuff.

if you go AL, at least LOOK at UHMV... bottom coatings will wear off.... UHMV is pretty much a done deal. Slick as snot. Wears well. But its adding weight and bolt holes... but thats the ONLY thing I'd ever waste time on for the bottom of our AL airboats....
And if rocks are around I"m with some of the others.... I wouldn't want a glass boat... gimme AL and weld any damage and back up and running.... glass cracks are ok, but take a bit of time and effort to fix.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Aluminum is sticky on rocks.

I've fished out of both and the Clack is nice but I'll take the Willie. You strike me as a fellow that uses his gear as God intended and for that reason the Willie would better suit your purpose. Honestly though, you'll be happy with either boat but metal is better for a boat designed to run so shallow she scrapes rocks. Good luck and enjoy whatever you get.

My Clackacraft has a 100 year hull guarantee. They don't do that because they're fragile. If one was to hit a rock hard enough to break fiberglass,it would rip an aluminum boat open like a beer can.
But, as was mentioned, either one will work well and have very loyal followings.
