Garden of the Gods is beautiful and well worth the time and drive to Colorado Springs. While there you can visit Old Town Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy.

Enjoy your time in Colorado.

The Broker? Great Chicago steak there.
Buckhorn Exchange is a another good one too.

Denver Nat Hist Museum is a great suggestion. The grounds surrounding it are wonderful. It is sort of an oasis in Denver.
Looping over Guanella pass is another great suggestion - you could go via I-70 and return via 285.

None of the big box sporting goods outlets in Denver are very good anymore.

The Broker is the name of the restaurant. Thanks for helping out.

Also if the OP is a big and tall store shopper there is an excellent big and tall store called Kaufmann's that has the best big and tall store selection I have ever seen.

Erik and others have given you good stuff. There are a FEW decent things to do in D, but the best advice is to get out of there into some surrounding great things.

If you are into beer, there are several good breweries in Denver and many more in the surrounding area.

The ride up Mt Evans is pretty spectaculer too, just outside of Idaho Springs. Be ready for traffic, seems like everytime we passed thru when we lived in NM the stretch of I25 from Colo Springs to Ft Collins was a parking lot.

Denver is just another big city and WyCowboy had some great suggestions. The best parts of CO are west of Denver. Whatever you do, you can't like it too much and stay here. Colorado is full.

No worries on either front.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I ended up at the Natural History Museum. Will be going again to see the rest of it on one of these trips.

The stuff out of CO Springs looks fun too, but the above referenced parking lot is rough. Usually I go up 285, sometimes I-25.

You can pan for gold. I think it's exit 264 on 70. I hope that link works.

A few things....

Some friends own the Outdoorsmans Attic a consignment outdoor store that gets some interesting stuff in tell them you are from the "fire and Brian sent you

Buzz down to Chatfield res and rent a sit on kayak and spend some time on the water, doing this with a fishing rod is even better.

Go over to Cherry Creek res and bust some clays at their 5 stand

Maybe we could arrange a "therapy" day and go up in the hills and deposit lead...
