Looks like it may happen this week. They just need to turn 2 or 3 GOP holdouts.

Just repeal the damned thing already. What is the problem?

It needs repealed.

Not replaced.

Socialized government healthcare IS the problem.

If we are going to demand mandatory health insurance, it ought to be modeled after auto insurance, which is already mandatory if you drive, and seems to work.

With auto insurance, you can shop among many offerings from different companies, ranging from the most basic liability to full-blown collision replacement. You can buy auto insurance even if you have had previous accidents/claims or driving violations. It will be at a higher cost, but it is available.

With auto insurance, routine parts and maintenance work aren't covered - although you can buy optional added insurance for high-cost maintenance like transmission replacement.

With auto insurance, you do not have to buy insurance to cover vehicles you do not own or drive. You cover your needs and only your needs.

Most importantly, with auto insurance the Federal government is not a provider in any way.

This will surely get the GOP holdouts on board. Mitch McConnell has plenty of money to grease the skids. 200 Billion goes a long way in bribing fellow Senators.

Get rid of Medicare? Tricare?, Medicade? The V.A.?

If it is simply repealed we gain nothing. Folks will continue walking into an ER for a common cold and we will continue to pay for it. Our system will still be broke.

That's an issue from the federal courts. Some judge ruled that a hospital can't turn away someone in need of medical care whether they can pay or not. That seemingly simple ruling has turned into a national medical crisis and a haven for illegals, druggies, bums, etc.

You actually think they're voting on a repeal? They're just switching to retread tires and taking off the fender skirts, not scrapping the caddy.

They put off the vote today. Apparently they can't get the holdouts to vote yes on whether to proceed. I don't think more time is going to help matters one bit.

The issue is that the GOP Senators have gotten used to medicaid expansion in their own states. They've been happy as can be that the poor and the drug addicted voters of their states now have insurance. Problem is that once you give freeloaders an entitlement you look like the bad guy when you take it away from them.

We can't have it both ways. If we want reasonable insurance premiums and quality health care for ourselves we can't pay for those who can't pay their fair share.
