red stag or goat with Celtic field sports in Ireland or West Highland hunting in scotland
phesants and ducks in Ireland or woodcock and snipe in scotland
once in a lifetime trip

Scotland - hands down. Scotland is by far the more classic hunting destination of the two.
Everyone that I know that went to Scotland used rented rifles because of the entry hassles but that was many years ago.

Goto to both. Just a short hop between them.

Short hop between them but the hunting may not allow him to hunt both. For visiting, absolutely, go to both.
My son and I hunted Poland last year - we were going to hunt Poland and Czech but the price kept getting higher and higher and trying to coordinate two hunts in two countries got to be too much. We hunted Poland (LOVED it!!) then visited Czech Republic.
Either way, enjoy!!!

I love Ireland too but for me it would be a highland stag hunt.

I'd likely rent. Just change the wing shooting to grouse and I would choose Scotland, as the choices stand Ireland checks more boxes for me. Can you include some fishing for either?

I have done Scotland twice with Athina Sporting. Rough terrain, fun hunt with great guys. Much cheaper than Celtic.
