Shame on you. Don't you know it's the government's job to take care of you...whether you like it, or not?

They need to figure out how to make it much cheaper, or they wont have to worry about the majority of people buying insurance, because they simply cannot and wont. In my view that is a straight repeal along with taking away some previous restrictions, and adding tort reform If I sign a paper stating I wont sue, my health care and subsequently my insurance should be a lot cheaper than someone who reserves the right to sue for any and all grievances real or perceived.

According to the latest stats the average mortgage is $309,200 with a 30 yr payment of $1,494 in monthly principal and interest. That is way higher than the average mortgage around here yet I know people that are paying well over $1000 per month for insurance, not to mention astronomical deductibles. People cannot afford to carry TWO mortgages. There is an end and a limit to it and many I know are near that end of being able and willing to continue paying.

One of the.biggest flaws with our constantly changing political system is the tendency of new blood to fix stuff that ain't broke, just for the appearance of doing something.

Yup, but, we still need to get rid of a lot of the " do as we say, not as we do" crap up there.

A lot of the newly elected fight for the right doers are quickly subdued by windfalls of magically appearing greenery.

Exactly. The very first law that should be passed is one where every Government worker from top to bottom has to live with the same laws. No exceptions. The second law should be that the law be enforced on all equally. Anybody shown favoritism should be treated harshly along with the law makers and enforcers that abetted that. miles

if the GOP can't get the balls to even take away the illegal taxes, you think they will ever have the votes to just dump the ACA? I think not.

Agreed.

But - they've been voted in THREE times in order to repeal it, and they won't.. They've lied to us repeatedly re: O-Care in order to get elected and they won't do it..

Know why? Because repealing it would relinquish a big part of "gov't control" and NO (repeat NO) politician will ever voluntarily give up control of the minions..

Of course, there could be other reasons - that they're so inept, naive, incompetent and feckless that they CAN'T repeal it... They're so bad that they remind me of a fictitious football team that takes the field. The other team never shows. And yet the first team uses 3 downs and STILL has to punt the ball.. mad

Total repeal isn't going to happen without at least 8 Democrats supporting it.

Senate rules require 60 votes to invoke Cloture (end a filibuster), before it can be brought to the Senate floor for a majority vote.

That's one of the reason for this half assed peace mean proposals over the past several months. The Senate had to keep the proposed bills under the guide of Budget Reconciliation where it only takes 51 votes as BR bills do not require 60 votes to invoke Cloture.

...and NO the nuclear option used to confirm Gorsuch does not come into play. The NO has been invoked for Judicial appointments and I believe cabinet position, Not legislation outside of Budget R.

that is not totally true. Senate rules can be changed, and there is a long history of dhimmicrats changing the rules to suit their agenda.

This is simply not true.

The nuclear option has only been used in practice twice (in 2013 and 2017), however the threat to use it dates back at least to 1917, in opinions related to reform of the Senate's filibuster rules.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_option

No long history, it has only been used twice. Once by Reid in 2013 and once by McConnell in 2017.

Trump is tweeting that the Senate needs to change the rules, McConnell says NO.

It's a done deal, it will take 60 votes to repeal.

They don't need 60 votes to get rid of the 60 vote rule......if so Harry Reid wouldn't of been able to change the Senate rules on Judges confirmations as there were only 53 democrats in the Senate at that time. There is nothing stopping the Republicans from going Nuclear with a simple majority rule if they so chose to.
