Had a German tourist once pontificate that bears are strictly vegetarian. I don't think it went over well when I informed him that in GMU 15A on the Kenai 70% of moose calf mortality (also around 70% for first year of life) at that time were killed in their first 4 months by bears, black and brown. Most of them when only a few weeks old. Wolves got most of the other 30% of mortality.

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

It was pretty crazy.

Well, in a way your fence did assist in killing that fawn, but in the end it is indeed 'the circle of life".

My parents live from May-October on the Uncompahgre Plateau. They're currently covered up wit deer, fawns, bears and cubs. If my mom saw a sow chasing a fawn I know darn good and well she'd be out there chasing the bear with her broom.............

Video of a lifetime there, good job with all the commotion!

That is pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing it.I think it's funny that people exclaim about the dangerous wildlife in Oz, but I can pretty much walk out my back door, or go for a walk in the bush and not get worried too much about being eaten.
