Have been helping a friend get her new hunting rifle set up and sighted-in. Weatherby Camilla, 20" barrel, .308 Win, topped by a 4-12x Swarovski. We've tried some of my handloads in it, with good success, but today were interested in firming up the 200 yard zero, using Federal factory ammo, with the 165 gr Sierra Gameking. I was impressed with the accuracy of the setup, particularly since it's a fairly lightweight rifle, on a bipod on the rough-surface concrete shooting bench.

The rifle has a very different stock configuration that must be seen & held to appreciate. Weatherby really did make this rifle for women! Ya, I confess, I shot it too. Doesn't fit me real well, but it worked great. Also the bolt and trigger just feel good, I was very impressed with the fit and finish of this rifle.

I neglected to use my chronograph. Federal shows the muzzle velocity as 2700 fps. I expect it's more like 2600 - 2650 from the 20" barrel.

Fired this group myself, and she fired one nearly as good, at 100 yards:

It's now solidly sighted-in at 200 yards, and she had no problem ringing the 300 yard gong. Not bad for a novice rifle shooter with a little rifle. I think she's set.

Regards, Guy

That is one of my favorite factory loads both in 308 and 30-06, always above average accuracy and has performed well on deer in the field. Thanks for your part in helping to get another hunter into the woods.

Nice shooting.

Thank you for helping her.

More and more women are becoming interested in guns, shooting, and hunting.

We need to welcome and help them like we would want someone to help our own wife.

They are important to help protect the culture of hunting and the right to own guns.

fwiw, my wife uses 150 Patitions over Varget, which has fairly mild recoil and is effective on deer and pigs.

The Shooter's Pro Shop has them on sale now too, which is bonus.

Shot that at 100 yards, while getting the scope dialed in. After shooting a few groups at 100 yards, we sighted-in the rifle/scope at 200 yards.

Sorry for the confusion.

Guy
