Gil Sengel's Column in THE RIFLE magazine page 22 sept. 2017 issue #284. IT tells how to acraglsas the butt and some other things i never heard of doing like he dose .like tighting loose take down barrel by putting a .010 in. shim between the forearm take down adapter and the forearm wood moves the barrel lock forward removes the looseness and improves accuracy . His reveiw on oiling 99's is different than i seen before. The column is worth reading and think about. I don't think he read's or is a 24hour savage member. steve

I'm not a 99er any more but have found his earlier "Light Gunsmithing" articles generally helpful. Interesting to see what the 99 fanatics have to say about this one. (And I say "fanatic" like it's a GOOD thing!).

I would recommend (at the very least) getting sound advice from a competent, experienced gunsmith before I do anything with a firearm that goes beyond cosmetics. My $.02

Uh, my best way for tightening a loose TD is to never take it down. Repeated take downs can't be good.
