I'm about to do a trade for a new generation straight Vortex Razor HD 27-60x85mm. Any experience? I've had the previous mode before and found it was a step up optically from the Leupold GR HD spotting scope I had.

I have the previous version, angled. I like it, but I'm not the type to get real picky.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

I have both that model and the 11-33x50 and find them to be very capable scopes.

I had it out yesterday spotting antelope and I was surprised how well it did given how hot it was out with the heat waves.

I've got the 1st gen 20-60x85 straight model, with the 30x MRAD eyepiece to go with it, and it's performed great for me. Been very happy with it.

I chose the 20-60 version on closeout over the 27-60 for more eye relief, lighter weight, and great price on closeout. It works very well for me.

I have the new generation 22-48x65 Razor, and I am very happy with it. I got this size for backpack hunting - its not too heavy - and it suits that role very well. Having said that, I wish I would have gone with the 27-60-85 model for the greater magnification - despite being a bit heavier.

I picked up last years straight 65mm Razor when they whent on clearance as the new look Razors came out. I agree that is a better spotter in every way then my 12-40x60 GR but not nearly as compact.
