It really doesn't do anything for the pain.

It just make you not give a damn about it...(grin)

At almost 65, I know that the day is approaching..... and the thought is very painful (No pun intended). At best, I've used-up 2/3 of my life, and fulfilled about 5% of my dreams! memtb

It's no big deal. Having passed 80, I regard my 60's as wasted youth. It was about that time that I quit carrying an '06 for Texas whitetails and started using a 257 Roberts. Just walk slower and carry a "shooting stick" instead of a cane. The freezer stays full of venison.

Sure, shooting my 270's and 30/06's is still fun, 7mm Magnum ain't so bad but that's about where my shoulder draws the line now.

I even bought a Sako 222 this summer for fun. Dang.

I'll still shoot my 338 in preparation for elk this fall...but it won't be for plinking, I can tell you that. It still doesn't kick as bad as my RUM though.

Guess I'm just getting old.

You are going enjoy shooting that .222 with the ammo you can purchase today the V-max makes it just that more fun.

I had my 450-400 No. 1 and a Henry 45-70 at the range last week.

36 450-400 (from 400gr factory loads to factory plus 250fps) and 25 45-70 (300 at 1,700) in about 90 minutes. Yes, I was rushed. Good thing the temps were decent and these aren't barrel burners!

I turn 60 next month.

I am certain it will all catch up to me. Just hope that happens after the 2019 Cape Buffalo hunt!
