What tool or how are people removing/compressing the forearm spring on #1's for part upgrades? have been utilizing a small vise but there has to be an easier way or a way/tool that is a little safer.
Thanks

I think youre talking about the hammer spring. To remove the assembly, cock the action and insert a small nail or slave pin in the hole at the front of the rod than let the action down. If you want to remove the spring from the rod then you need to make a tool. I would use the wide flat mouth vise gripes. Grind them down so the jaws fit between the coils of the spring (you only need to grind a small area of the jaws) then cut a thin notch in them to straddle the rod. If you do the modifications right you can still use the vise grips for other things.
