Was at a local place today and they have a rem 700 synthetic ADL on the used shelf for 299. Isn't the action worth 50% more than that? And if so, can it be switched to a bdl if I re-stock it? chambered in 270, but could re-chamber to lots of stuff? I'm thinking of building a custom 243, 257 bob, 260, 7-08 or something along those lines for my daughter as she grows up. What do you all think?

That is a slightly better than average price on a 270/30-06 700 ADL/Syn in used condition. Most around here are marked at $325 or $350. You can buy a new at WalMart sometimes for $380.
It can be changed over to BDL with the addition of a BDL floorplate, which is maybe $60, and a BDL magazine box for $15 or so. As far as re-chambering, you are very limited, as re-chambering is cutting a new chamber in your existing barrel. Re-barreling is simple, and the options for a long action .473 boltface 700 are plentiful. It should be noted that the long action and long magazine box are not well suited to the common short action chamberings based on the .308win case, but are well suited to those based on the 30-06 case.
Now with even more aplomb

Thank you for the detailed response. Yeah, I would re-barrel, and I overlooked the fact all the cartridges I listed are short action except maybe the bob. Thanks again, Ill let it slide, not enough savings to sit on it.

I could see using the long action for a 257 Roberts but see no need for the long action in the other chamberings you mentioned.

I handled a new ADL today in a gun store. It was new and when I slid the bolt back it felt like it was riding on sand paper. It was so cheap feeling. I can understand bead blasting the outside but not the inside. It was sad the other 700s I have are old but they are polished and slick.I'm looking to buy a cheap loner rifle and it won't be a Remington. This store had 50 rifles and they all were cheap and ugly. Whats wrong with polishing some steel on a rifle these days.

New Remington 700 ADL's at Academy Sports (Big Box Sports Place) are around $350. Seen them for $300 or so during a sale.
If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ...

I bought a 243 adl last week, there is a 50 dollar rebate. Will shoot it as a 243 and when it pukes a barrel I will look around for another chambering. Maybe screw on a 250 savage or something

I have a couple of used WALNUT ADL 700's for sale, one chambered in 30.06, the other in .270 Win. I won't sell them for $299 simply because someone else advertises the TupperWare versions for $299, but I will make you a reasonable deal. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...emington-model-700-adl-30-06-springfieldhttps://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...16279/fs-remington-model-700-adl-270-win
