Trump should have stayed out of it but chose to go with the guy supported by the man he selected as Attorney General. What am I missing here?

Moore won the runoff. We'll elect someone on Dec 12th.

Having yes men doesn't help in business. Successful business people surround them selfs with smart, motivated, loyal people to pull ideas from.

I will guarantee you that being a "yes" man is every bit as important to some as being otherwise.

Thanks, and will he be in the seat till the time that Session's term would have ended (2020?) or is it a for a 6 year term?

Exactly, the Washington crowd should have stayed out of it. Strange may have lost the seat because Alabamians got tired of the endless attack adds directed at Roy Moore. It was a stupid waste of republican money.

Breitbart ran a comparison showing how little McConnell has spent doing just that.

I suspect Pres. Trump spent some "image/opinion" capitol to gain political favor with McConnell.

I would bet Pres. Trump actually was more ambivalent in this matter, but personally favored Moore.

Humor me a moment and think about it this way...

1a) If Pres. Trump supports McConnell's boy, he gains favor with McConnell (a current bur under the presidential saddle blanket).
1b) If Strange would have won, he knows he owes the President some favor. Further, the President does gain at least some backing for things like the 2A (admittedly weak on 2A...)

2) If Roy Moore wins, Pres. Trump gains strong support for 2A as well as a host of other USA 1st/MAGA matters at hand.

Win/Win for the Pres.

Actually he means the opposite. If you'd put aside your obvious democrat-laced hatred of Trump, even the narrow minded could see this was really a good thing for Trump. Why?, because it's obvious Trump was dealing with McConnell to try and get stuff moving in the Congress, so I am sure the cost was to support McConnell's lap dog, Strange. When Trump went down to stump for Strange, he drew Huge (yuge) crowds, meaning the rank and file were and are still with him. Moore is an obvious anti-establishment individual (as is Trump, in case that bulb hasn't turned on for you yet) and in the end Moore will be a FAR better candidate that Strange could ever be.

So, Jorge, Mitch has become an honorable man that can be trusted to pay his political debt to Trump?

Trump could have followed precedent and stayed out of Primary politics and avoid the embarrassment of backing a loser.

Most likely story I read is that his SIL was the one pushing him toward Strange in order to black Bannon's ass.

In the interest of peace and harmony on the forum, I'll stipulate that Trump can walk on water if you guys will own up to the fact that he occasionally sinks down to his knees.

Here is the scoop by the boots on the ground there, so to speak.

When we had the Special election in Geogia's 5th District, 13 GOP candidates ran against only ONE Dem (Ossoff). I comend them for not cannibalizing each other, but that was stupid. 13?
The attack adds against Ossoff and Handal were vicious. I hate them, but they work.

I am FAR from a Trump acolyte. FAR ( a cursory check of my posts will validate this). The number of screw ups he's had are many, then again he's fighting on more fronts that the Wehrmacht in 1944 with little or no support from his inner circle that unfortunately is FULL of left wingers. All I can tell you is I firmly believe he personally has no agenda other than the good of the country but right now, I'm just not seeing how he can win. We're screwed, really

No dumbass. Trump was taking a losing position behind Strange to TRY and work with the commie, your buddy Mitch McConnell, since congress is run by team R and can't get squat done. Strange is McConnell's butt buddy. Everyone paying attention knew Strange was going to lose by around 15-20 points. This primary result only shows that the Trump movement is bigger than Trump himself. And before you spew more pinko commie cock sucking bullspit... if this is such a blow to the Trump movement then why is the candidate spouting #MAGA and who is 100% behind Trump the victor in the primary?? Let that sink in. And the fact that your team (aka pinko commie cock suckers) is getting trounced in the general for that seat.
