Could someone give me the address or thread where to send in for to get a Savage 99 factory letter now that Mr. Callahan has retired and what it costs? Thanks all.

Look in the "Misc" sticky above the active threads, you'll find what U R looking for 5 or 6 posts down.

Thanks for the address. Does anybody know what Savage Arms charges for a research letter?

I know with Colts it really helps establish a gun to have the letter and backs up if the gun was a nickle or blued, barrel and so on... But with these Savages does it really matter that much?
For the record I have a 99F takedown the serial number is 2341XX. It's in good shape but would it increase it's value to anyone to have a letter for it? Or is it just a nice thing to have for the record?

Also, what info is on the letter?

I got a letter from Savage for an 1895 in 30-30 and I sent them a check for $25, and they cashed the check.

Did they set the price or did you just send with the request?

Looking on the Savage Arms site, at the bottom of the info page there might be a way to summit a request for a letter, under Service Request/Support Category/Historical Requests...?

Rick,

I just sent it with the request. I had no idea on the cost and could get Savage to tell me so I just sent it. It obviously worked.
