Anyone do any shooting comparisons between the A-MAX bullets and simular weight Match King's. I'm especially interested in the .264 140/142 bullets. Seems the A-Max's BC is understated compared to the SMK 140/142 grainers. Does this prove out on the bench. How about speed, accuracy, loadability, hunting game, etc? This same question is on the rifle board. Thanks in advance; Bend

The AMAX bullets BC is higher than listed in 6.5mm. They are accurate and shoot VERY well. They are VERY thin jacketed and fragile. I thought they would make a great long range deer/antelope bullet when shot out of a 6.5-06 at just over 3,000 fps. I shot my antelope at 420 yards broud side aiming for the lungs. I missed the wind by a smidge (it was howling) and hit the buck right square in the stomach. He stumbled, but stayed up. I sent another 140 grain Amax on the way and hit 4 inches in front of the first one on the same elevation plane. He dropped and that was it. I found the flattened jacket of the first bullet in the ribs on the off side with particles of lead all over in the animal. It blew to pieces all over in the stomach. The second bullet was found in the stomach next to the lungs and it weighed 40 grains. If I would have hit the buck in the shoulder, I would have been in for a long tracking job. Antelope are very small and at that range, I would have expected full penetration. I haven't killed anything with match kings, so I can't comment, but for rock chucks and coyotes, that 140 grain Amax is a brute. My buddy shoots his deer, elk and everything else every year with a 162 grain Amax's out of his 7mm mag. at 3,100 fps. NOW THAT is an impressive killer of game and exits with HUGE exit holes nearly every time. He even hunted planes game in Africa with it with utter reliance. I have been at his side on most kills and it is impressive. He has killed around 30 critters of all sizes and NOTHING takes a step. Flinch
