Kellogg's has agreed to redesign the artwork on its Corn Pops cereal boxes after a complaint on Twitter slammed it as racially insensitive imagery.
The cereal box's artwork shows the corn pop cartoon characters inhabiting a shopping mall and taking part in various activities. Some corn pops are shopping, while others are playing arcade games or jump rope.
Amid the bustle is one brown-colored corn pop dressed as a janitor pushing a floor waxer.
Writer Saladin Ahmed used Twitter on Tuesday to express dismay that the only brown-colored corn pop was a janitor and said the illustration was teaching racism.
Good thing he wasn't around when I was a kid watching Amos n Andy.........

Those were a favorite when I was a kid back in the 50's. Then, though, they were called Sugar Corn Pops and advertised as being 'shot with surgar through and through'. They have just as much sugar now as then but now they're 'part of a nutritious breakfast'. Calvin and Hobbs had it right when they called them Sugar Bombs.

Had they been REALLY truthful... the brown corn pop would stay the same, the yellow corn pops would be wearing pussy hats and crying, and there would have been black corn pops robbing the liquor store, stealing the yellow one's cars, and shooting 3 or 4 other black corn pops with guns stolen from the farmer that raised them...

This is another case where one part of society really misunderstands another. Think about the janitor and who he is. He is a working, contributing, tax paying individual. He is my brother, no matter his ethnic background or his skin color.
Just who are those who feel that being portrayed as a janitor is to be denigrated?
