FWIW, I think 2010 was the last year Ford used the 6.4L. The 6.0L was phased out in 2007?

Yep, sad story. My guess is that a good mechanic would have done the same job for about half what the dealer wants. Still, even if $5500.00 is spent a diesel should have a whole lot of life left with 176K miles on it. Barring another huge expense,it's still a lot cheaper than buying a new comparable vehicle.

Safariman? Is that you?

No, it's not him. That truck is here in my garage with several other late 60s through 72s - some have run 200k and are going fine. (One Campfire guy rode in it with me in a parade.) The gentleman that he would like to spend less than 20k for one that will "run for 150k miles and need nothing other than fluids, filters, wiper blades, brake pads/rotors and tires." Experience tells me it will do that.

Miss the simplicity of the FJ62, don't miss the 9 mpg, and 16 qt oil changes.. This rig rides a lot nicer.

Fell in love with the HiLuxes while living down there in 2009, it's a damn shame they don't sell them here.. Great ute...

Saw them at the State Fair of Texas and went to Kelley Blue Book and saw the prices.

True that Mackey. Every time I take out my low mileage FJ62 I’ve got people wanting to buy it.

That said, I’ve been in Australia for about a week and am lusting after the myriad of diesel Toyotas as well the Ford Rangers etc.

The smaller trucks with the tray beds with boxes are the shizzle.

Take lots of pics Jim! For starters, what's a tray bed?

Been shopping used ones now.

Few things I have noticed.

Can't find any used one in my area, that kind of tells me those that do own them don't sell them.

Not many complaints about them other than price, fuel economy

A little research on line tells me that they sell/import less than 4000 of them to the entire USA. Probably due to competition even from their own, ie. Lexus; and its a niche target. People wealthy enough to afford it who want serious off road capability not just the look.

I personally am not a fan of the monster grill on the Lexus myself but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it never really was a consideration.

The thing appears to be somewhat bullet proof (not the biggest, efficient or fastest) but QDR seems without question.

Hi Kingston. There’s a road “Kingston “ close to the hotel here in Adelaide. If I have something to take a pic with when I’m out I’ll get it.

Do you remember the old VW bus with the flat bed? I think they were called a workman model. Anywho most of the p/u trucks I’ve seen about weather Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda or Ford Ranger have all been diesel and have what Toyota markets as a tray bed.

On the newer rigs it’s a flat bed with fold up sides and tailgate, usually with a headache rack and locking storage boxes fore and aft of the rear wheels underneath the bed. They’re nicely built aluminum and have more bed room than my F250 I took to the hog hunt.

I wish these were offered stateside. I'd own one in a heartbeat. My stag riding in the back pictured above, taken a few years ago in Hokkaido (largest northern island in Japan) approves too.

The question alone is the answer. If it was worth that kind of money you would probably buy it, but because someone else pays up, that doesn't quite mean the same...

75,000.................. dollars?

Canadian?

Surely something like that could not be priced as such in US funds.

Saw the new LC has an 8 speed transmission. What kind of real world mpg does it get? I drive a lot of highway miles (25-30k/yr)....
