I know, there's lots of variables, but, for sitting in the stand, short walks, what are the warmest socks you've ever worn?

Bean has some warm and comfortable wool socks that I really like. I have some with 16" tops to fit my Bean 16" Maine Hunting Boots.
Wool Ragg Socks, 16" Item #: TK500450

The ones that had a good boot around them. Lol...this is the answer. Less is better when it comes to socks. The LAST thing you want in cold conditions is a thick sock that will constrict circulation or make your feet sweat. Spend your money on some good boots. You'll be spend less and be happier in the long run.

Same thinking of layering should carry to your socks depending on conditions. I use synthetic liner socks under merino wool. Also don’t discount using chemical heat packs.
Obviously as stated above best boots you can afford.

the ones where I had a decent beanie or hat on.
For stand hunting, I bring an extra blanket with me and wrap it head to toe to increase circulation.
That, and toe-warmers. For a dollar a morning in the stand those things are great for the week I'm out.

Smartwool merino wool socks with toe warmers work well for me. I wrap my Gore-tex jacket around my lower legs and have been comfortable for a cold weather sit on my stand.

For stand hunting, I use either smartwool, or old Thorlo mountaineering socks. I think that the key is boots with lots of insulation, sized loose. Particularly boots with separate insulation layers like Pac boots. Sized a little loose for best circulation.. When temps really drop add chemical toe warmers.
Over the years I have progressed from felt lined pack boots to rocky snow stalker extremes, to Cabelas Saskatchewan packs.
If you do half day sits and walk out to the car or cabin, change socks and liners mid day, moisture is an enemy. For multi day hunts a boot drier can dry everything up over night.

I usually use smart wool, and they are great. It my warmest pair are Alpaca wool, and they are made within a mile of hunt camp at a local Farm. Almost have to take a mortgage out on them, though, but they are worth it on cold days.

The warmest I've found are Heat Holders. Their watch caps and gloves are also wonderfully warm. LINK
