Looking for a new double-duty hunting/range scope with a 3x max on the low end and min of 12x on the high end (15-20+ preferred) with 30-34mm tube and but more than 50mm objective. I like both FFP and SFP so either one would be fine but want to stick with mil-mil. Open to caps but exposed turrets with zero-stop might be a better option. Don't really care about illuminated but if it really helps with the given reticle, I'm a-ok with it. Price range anywhere from $600-$1300 would be about right depending on the features. So.....which is it??

You need a bigger budget unless the Bushnell LRHS checks all of your boxes.

Wish the LRHS was 3-15 but for the $$, I don't think you can beat it. Will probably just go with that while I save up for a NF 3-15 mil-r or it's equivalent....

If you can handle the weight and the objective size, the 3.5-21x50mm Bushnells are pretty nice scopes as well. I wouldn't want any more than 12x on the LRHS body personally, but the 3.5-21x50 is decent for most of its mag range. I usually use mine on 12x-15x but crank it up on the rare occasion I have cause to. The DMR-II is the best iteration in my opinion, with some shopping you should be able to squeeze one into your budget.

I personally use the LRHS on my hunting rifle for weight and low mounting. If those weren't concerns I'd jump up to the 3.5-21 that I use for all my other shooting.

I love the huge power range on the DMR-II. How do you like that reticle for long-range precision? Does the short body give you any mounting problems when it comes to your eye box?

I've got a H59 in my DMR-II and a G2 in my original DMR. The G2 (or newer G3) is a pretty good choice for most use, though I prefer the G2 (not available in the latest model). I got my newer one with the H59 because I wanted to try out .2 mil windage hashes. There are pro's and con's, on average I prefer .5 mil hashes for hunting and .2 mil hashes for competition. If forced to run any of the three I wouldn't sweat it.

If I put a ring as far back as it goes on a picatinny rail, and mount the scope as far forward as possible in that ring, the scope is in just the right place for me, I don't fight it at all. I'd put up an image but I haven't got set up with a new hosting service since Photobucket changed it's game, need to do that.

I have other, more expensive scopes, but the 3-12 LRHS is my favorite, by quite bit. The balance of glass, precision and durability is very hard to beat, especially for what they sell for.

I’m currently using the 4.5-18 LRTSi but used the 3-12 LRHS before that. The LRHS is now my spare. Both are superb.

+4, and you really need one. Other than heavy the 3-12 LRHS is great.

Yeah, ya' got me thinking too. The Bushnell Factory Outlet store isn't too far from me and I hear if you're a member of the local gun club you get a pretty good discount.

Maybe tomorrow I'll cruise on down there and check one out.

The turrets have zero stop and are accurate and repeatable.

I have two 4.5-18 LRTSi and they are great, 2 oz more than the 3-12 and you get illumination which is handy with the ftp reticle which is a bit fine at low power. Great zero stop system also. I'm tempted to get another if Bushnell offers another 25% off sale.

I also have several SWFA 3-15 x 42mm with the DM (dedicated marksman) Mil Quad reticle (open diamond centre) which helps in low light as The reticle in 2nd fp is fine. The SWFA is also a very good scope with mil turrets.

Carl, I've just started using my DMR-11 (G3) sounds like we mount them similar, no issues with me either...

Have moved to Image shack will see if I can hang a pic....
