I sent my uncle all the old write ups from dogzapper. He is now hell bent on doing this. We already have several 280 ackleys, so this makes sense to him. I have put in a few calls and email to West Texas Ordinance with no response. Appears they have done several and have the info on their site, but nobody answers. Where should we look to buy/ rent reamer, any smiths on here have experience with this cartridge

I chambered up a 6.5-280 improved (non-ackley) rifle up for myself about 4-5 years ago. Shot less than 100 rounds through it before starting my next project. It was pretty consistenlty shooting 5 shot 1/2" groups when I stuck it in the safe. It was my idea to do something other than the 6.5-06, so it's what I did. It's a great chambering, and I'll have to pick it up again. Would be a great deer rifle too if I didn't have others to choose from.

I would have to look in my book for load data.

Go with .180 freebore for the 140 class bullets

I am toying with this as well. You might contact Darrel Holland I understand he chambers for this fairly often . Google holland guns and you should be able to run him down. Well known gunsmith based in Oregon I think. Hope this helps, Goodshot
