Horn was the first guy Stick knew to use them, hence "Horn" rings.

Bottom line, the XTR Sigs are wicked for many reasons. They're about all I use wherever possible.

I dig the inserts, but even their lows are really tall at 1". I'm assuming they're measured from the top of the rail to the center of the ring—the way other picatinny rail rings are.

Yep.

The most recent rings I've bought were made in the USA, IIRC.

Thanks Jordan.

I just found this.

Now if they could just make extra lows at 0.76", they'd really be something.

I'd be happy to get drunk and knock your rifle over into the fire pit.

Jay,

You've certainly put your optics through some testing the past few days. While no manufacturer wants to see an optic lose zero....there are certainly forces and tests that will lead to these results. While I'm not happy both results were the same, as I would have preferred the Toric not have any shift in zero after the multiple rifle drops, it does show us where there is room to improve. In fact, it should show all manufacturers whom make products in this same price range that hunters and shooters want and expect this type of test to not affect the optic.

Thanks again for going out there and doing the tests and posting the results. We're watching and listening.

Trevor:

As a potential customer I'd be interested in knowing if my rifle can be dropped from a distance of 4 or 5 feet onto a Forest Service gravel road - landing directly on top of the top turret of the scope 3 times in a row - and the scope retains zero.

Or alternatively if I were to fall out of a tree stand.

That would mean a lot to me. More than the ability to track consistently to be candid.

You might consider leaving your rifle in the stand when you fall out. Anymore, that's pretty standard.

they should survive the 'drop test'....

heck, I hear Schtick throws them out the window doing 80 down the road....

then lets log trucks run over them for a week or two...

lets them soak in the creek for a week, to get the dirt off and out of them...

and if they are still working, they are good to go...

if not, he just sends them back....
saying they must have been defective from the factory...

That's some funny [bleep] right there........
If I fell 12' out of my stand, I'm pretty [bleep] sure I'd be more concerned about my internal bleeding than my scope.

You know, come to think of it, I did drop a rifle out of a stand once. Savage Model 10 with a Burris FF II scope. Barrel stuck straight into the ground. It shot just fine afterwards!
