I was going to order a Howa lightning from whittakers today. I always thought Howa had a short action and a long action length. I look at the Legacy Sports website and they list the same OAL for all the rifles.

Can someone answer this for certain before I order? I want one in 6.5cm or 243 but NOT if they are in a long action.

They are true short and long actions, about a 3/4" difference. I have 2 shorts and 2 longs in my safe right now.

They have three lengths.

The Mini is for .223 size cartridges.

The Medium/standard is for .308 size cartridges (everybody else calls these short actions)

And the long is for 30-06 size cartridges.

If I recall, the short action .473's run a bit long as compared to a 700 and allow about a 2.9" oal.
