May have an opportunity to buy an 1890 second series that is just plain perfect. I have never seen one this nice before. The crescent butt plate is 100% case colored, hammer 100 % case colored, even the takedown screw head and hammer 100%case colored. Barrel is rust blued and perfect. Muzzle in the white. Two VERY small dents in the stock. No slide marks on top of the receiver. Opened the bolt and with a jewelers lope saw no sign of any marks on the bolt face and no slide marks on the carrier that it has ever been fired. What would you say is a fair price for this gem? It's in .22 short. Thanks. RRM

If everything is as you say & all original, the Winchester Red book says at excellent condition is $4284 for cased colored & $3420 for blued. Now, getting that price is another thing. Check Guns International & see what they are asking for similar rifles or go to Winchester Collector site & ask.
