Made a phone call Friday morning, talked to Neil for a while (found out some interesting rock band stuff as we discussed my sons’ drums and guitars), purchased a scope, and lo and behold, my purchase arrived today at lunchtime.

Gotta love Cameraland!

Hoping my new camera lands as fast. Pretty excited about the tripod what’shername ordered through Santa too

Same here, I ordered a scope from Doug who upgraded it to NIP instead of Demo and it got here in three days. Always had good dealing with Camera Land.

They are just great people to deal with.

Neil is a great guy, bought a scope from them last year and really enjoyed talking to him. I'm not one for small talk during business transactions, but I appreciate common interests and genuine people.

So, there’s a Neil, a Doug, and a Joel. According to my phone calls and this forum. How many more of them are there?

Jeff, who is our general manager
Scotty, who is both cameras and sports optics
Gary, who is cameras as well as slide, photo and video transfers

Just a little background on our crew.

Joel and I are brothers and "grew up" here in the store basically
Neil & Scottie have been with us for around 20 years each
Jeff has been with us about 5 years and has been in the industry over 35 years
Gary is Joels "nephew" as we call him. He's in his early 20's and he met Joels son on the 1st day of pre-school at 2 years old and has been like family ever since.

Love seeing a small business longevity!

Last week was our 60th anniversary for Camera Land. We lost Pop last year but are doing our best to continue running things the way he taught us.

So sorry for your loss Doug. Sounds like he had a lot to be proud of

Thank you. Pop was the best. Taught us all old school. So many folks became members of the Camera Land family. We became a "must stop" when people visit NY. I personally loved when older folks used to come in and ask for Pop saying they've been a customer of his since the '60's. I'd always make sure to ask their name so when Pop came out he would know it in case he'd forgotten (he was still coming in well into his 80's)

Very cool. What a fantastic way to live life!

Small family businesses are what makes America great. CL obviously fits that mold. All the best to CL for continued success.
