I'm not brave enough to smoke a backstrap or tenderloin.
Let us know how it turns out. I haven't had the time or been brave enough to try it yet. I plan on doing the smaller "trim" pieces of the backstrap first before chancing the big, yummy pieces. I'll let ya'll know...

It's a nice rifle, I hadn't seen one before this and haven't seen another since. She currently shoots a federal factory load, 125 gr JSP.

Dave, a little help if you please.
I have a Win Model 100 with a vintage Marble's GameGetter scope mount. I put it on there because, well, it fit the gun's history and lived just a few miles from where it was made. It's sort of a low profile, see-through mount with a one piece tube. It actually does't work very well with my Leupy 3x9 because the 40mm bell obscures the sight picture and you have to get reeeeeally low on the stock to even see through it. Not a huge fan of see-throughs anyway.
So I've decided to replace it. I like and prefer Leupold rings and bases for this old girl. Nothing against other manufacturers, but they've always been good to me and this is a 50+ yr old gun. I can't find anything on Leupolds website that reference the Model 100 or 88. I know you have that neat Winny 88. I was wondering what you have on there.
Anybody else have an idea, your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did a roast in the insta-pot tonight. Venison over rice with some Korean BBQ sauce.
My wife didn't believe it was venison.
Two hours and it tasted like 12+ in the slow cooker

Anyone ever try one in The Can Cooker? No, but it sounds like a good idea. On the processing front, we did 80 pounds of sausage today, and 20 more pounds of ground straight venison. 4 deer is a LOT for 2 people if they're decent sized. Plus we both have a ton of roasts and backstraps that we vacuum sealed when we de-boned.

I at one point had a weaver base and a pair of weaver style rings on mine. I came across a really nice leupold "vari-x" 3-9 40mm with the cat whisker crosshairs that was manufactured same year as my 88. I also found a new in box weaver tip off mount. It goes against my senses, putting a tip off on anything I own... but it was brand new and super tight, very stiff in the hinge. I'll never tip it, the look was right, period correct etc, so I put it on with the vintage leupold. I still have a weaver one piece base, you can have it if you want it. PM me an addy if you want it, I'll mail it.

CFT, Gorilla tape works best due to the molecular adhesion principle and retains the zero at roughly plus or minus the inverse of the cubed root of pi times the square of the parallel area of the tape in acres applied to metallic surfaces with the answer of course, in millimeters per degree Kelvin due to the expansion and contraction issues at various temperatures with respect to tape over steel. Following this simple formula, if you sighted in 1" high at 100 yards, you will only be plus or minus 43.62547 mm per delta degree K.
Obviously the specifics for Silver duct tape are complex compared to this rather simple principle so I won't detail that formula.

B-man, that's exactly the data I needed, except if you would please give me the probability (p value) of the statistical significance on a Likert scale regarding the hold of the Gorilla tape. I like the Gorilla tape better because it's shiny and black.
Dave, Thanks! pm sent. Kudos on the vintage Leupy. I've been keeping my eye out for one as well.
