I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

I have come into a 700 in .270 that I don't need. I'm thinking next time I'm over by Hart's I'll have them rebarrel it to .25-06 AI (already got the dies) with a 24 - 26 inch barrel, not too heavy and not too skinny; Timney trigger; probably put the Leupold 3.5 - 10 that's now on my Encore .25-06 AI barrel on it and send the Encore barrel down the road.

I've had tremendous success over the past 12 years with this Rem 700 CDL and a 6x Leupold. Usually with 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips handloaded over Retumbo. It's pillar bedded, free floated, trigger set to 3# and shoots quite nicely. Wilson dies and an arbor press help me build good ammo for it. One of these days the barrel is going to give up, and I'll replace it with the same contour, 24" 1:10 twist, but probably a Krieger. I had a couple other 25-06 rifles before this one, but this on just feels pretty much perfect to me, and it's done real well. I have a near-twin, big brother to it in 30-06 as well, for bigger bullets. Guy This, but in stainless with a synthetic stock. Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

Some years ago, I had a Savage 110E package gun, 22" barrel, cheap stock, Simmons scope. I tossed the scope, swapped out the stock with a Tupperware (also Savage) and put a Weaver V-9 scope on it. It shot exceptionally well with 100gr. Partitions and H-4350. For practice, I used Sierra ProHunters (100gr.), and it was light, under 7 lbs, scope, sling, ammo.
It sure was easy to pack around. I gave it to a buddy of mine, as far as I know, he's still got it. He was a pure unadulterated .25/06 slut, but all his rifles were pretty heavy, so it was a nice change for him.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

I had a local gunsmith build up a .25/06 in 1975. WWII Mauser 98 action, Douglas #3 at 24 inches, Canjar set trigger @ 2.5 lbs, Fajen classic stock and a Leupold 3X9 with Redfield mounts. 8 3/4 pounds loaded. Fit like a glove and I could usually put 3 shots on a 200 yard 12 inch steel plate at 200 yards offhand.
Today I would use a pre-64 model 70 action and a lighter contour 24 inch barrel

Tikka t3 hunter. Other than the plastic, that has never cracked, broke, I love it! .75 or better holes at 100-150 yards.

A Rem. 700 action that has been trued. Add a Hart 24" barrel. Fiberglass stock glass bedded and free floated. Add a custom trigger. Hand loaded 100 gr. Barnes. It will shoot .25" groups all day long. My biggest Alberta buck was taken with this. I have the exact same rifle! High Tech Specialties stock. Shoot the same 100 gr. Barnes too. Stuck a 4.5-14 Leupold with S&K mounts on and never looked back. NoCAL

I doubt I will ever find anything more perfect than blue and walnut tang safety Ruger 77 in 25-06 I once owned. 24 inch magnum weight barrel, and either an aftermarket trigger, or finest job of tuning I ever shot. (I did not know enough to identify the difference in 1982.)
Equipped with a 1982 Bushnell Scopechief in 3-9 flavor, it shot 117 Hornady btsp pushed to max by H4831 into clever leafs .
Not to say I would walk away from a SS and laminate Ruger 1B, today. Had one too. I at least took the VX II off prior to sale. Still kicking myself for letting go of it.

My next one will be based on the 284 case... Lilja barrel, SA 700, wood stock wood has nt been decided upon yet.
Last was a 700 with a Hunter weight Pac-Nor barrel in a Faux Ti stock. Riley took it and kills all kinds of stuff with it and 80gr TTSX...
Still have a custom Mark X Mauser in a wild bigleaf maple stock.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

Rem 700 ss action blue printed, with custom bolt knob Timney Trigger Lilja #3 SS contour, 26” barrel, bead blasted matte McMillan hunter stock, Black painted Leupold 4-12x in Talley ring mounts
Shoot 110 accubonds for deer Shoot 100 ballistic tips for deer or smaller stuff You're getting close for sure but I'd like to chop the barrel to 22" and use a bit heavier bullets Never had a 25-06 but it sure seems to be the perfect Deer rifle.

Mines a 25-06 AI built on a CRF M-70 with a 28" McGowan 10 twist stainless fluted barrel in a McM Edge stock, worked over with Rednecks majik it'll put three 100 gr TTSX's in a ragged hole at at 100 running 3500 fps in calm winds.
Have hit a few deer and pigs with it, instant DRT's so far, it wears a matte 4.5-14x40 Leupold in lapped matte Talley LW's.

I am on my 5th. Ruger 77 action, Douglas #2 contour at 24" in a McWoody.
I am thinking I am going to stop there as far as 25-06's go.
There is no way to coexist no matter how many bumper stickers there are on Subaru bumpers!

You need at least six. I’m way behind, only two.
