To All,

MOST of our people (who were perfectly satisfied with the name "American Indian" for centuries) are now "tagged with" Native American, that to many of us means no more than we were born here.
(IF we are NAs, what pray tell are the other people of any racial/ethnic group that were born in the USA??)

What I find somewhat ironic & rather amusing is that Christopher Columbus just may have been partially correct about the people that he called "Indians", as ALL of the people who now are called NA/"Amer-Indians" can trace our DNA to just SIX women who lived in BERENGIA about 30,000 years ago & whose descendants wandered into the Western Hemisphere between 30,000-15,000 years ago. - A massive earthquake cut off and finally submerged Berengia.
(Berengia is thought to have stretched from today's Pondicherry, India to China across the Pacific to where San Diego is today on the south & up to at least the western coast of southern Alaska. = At least some of us ARE descendants of INDIANS.)

As a direct & REAL descendant of Pocahontas (the daughter of Deep Stream, who was called: The Powhatan) and her daughter Cleopatra, I find "this whole deal" to be: FUNNY.
Otoh, I am DISGUSTED with "FAKE INDIANS:" like Elizabeth Warren & Ward Churchill, who falsely claim to be "Native American" to CHEAT & get "preferential treatment", that they are NOT entitled to receive.
(According to the DNA experts of The Mohawk Nation, those 2 CREEPS/LIARS have NO "Amer-Indian"/"NA" blood whatever & should be repeatedely "called out" as PHONIES & KNOWING LIARS.)

Note: Elizabeth Warren claims to be a "Cherokee Princess". - Unfortunately for her, we A-I/NA do NOT have "titles of royalty". Instead, we simply have: sons & daughters.
(The ONLY real "Cherokee Princess" is a beauty pageant winner from OK. - "Beauty pageant winner" does NOT describe LYING LIZ, imo.)

As I recall it was the first one they could rally any serious support for. It was also the beginning of the tax-free casino craze, and federal government Native American owned contract set-aside business category, which is impossible to compete against regardless of cost.

Actually I am 1/16th Cherokee but it wasn't cool to admit you were part Indian even here "in the land of the Red Man" many years back. That and my great grandmothers delivering doctor misspelled her name so no signing up on the rolls for any of us. We didn't need the hand outs anyway...

SORRY, I don't know that answer. - I don't get a government check, as our family (Like many other Woodland folk) REFUSED to register after TWBTS.
