Looking for some basic tools for work and I usually like screwdrivers that are magnetic. I saw this magnetizer at Home Depot and wondered if anyone had experience with this sort of gadget. If I get regular non magnetic tools and one of these, is it just as good as a set of magnetic screw drivers?

Thanks,
Rob

I don't know about this one - but the principle works.
When I was about 14, I worked a summer in a typewriter shop, and we had a magnetizing coil for screwdrivers. Just an electrical coil you put the driver into, pressed button - then released button before removing to magnetize. To de-magnetize, you put the driver in, and held the button while removing the driver.

They work. You won't make a permanent magnet with one, but enough to mag a screwdriver tip.

Do not put it by your phone. wink
