How far is the drive into town?

For me it's a mere 25 miles.

But, there and back is 50.. Probably one reason I don't go often. (The other is that I'm not fond of people, or heavy traffic.. wink )

How long is your drive?

How often do you make the drive to town?

I'm about the same, though there is a 'little' town about 8 miles away with gas and a hamburger joint or two.

I've gone over a week and never left my property.

I live on 180 acres in the woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There is a small town with a post office, grocery store and gas station about 9 miles away, and two medium size towns about 30 miles away in opposite directions. I often go 4 or 5 days without leaving the place or seeing another human. But all the amenities of civilization are only 40 minutes away if I want them.

I live 8 miles southeast of town.

Town is about 1000 people now.

There is a cafe and a bank.

I am 30 miles from the big town to the west. 10,000 in that one.

The fugger for me is when the wife flies to visit family. I rather hate the 6 hour round trip drive to the airport.

49 miles to nearest town. 105 miles to nearest townwith bank, fast food etc. drive in to nearest town, is 90 minuites in goog dry weather, add an hour or two when you have to chain up for mud. impaassable today from snow. I try to go once a week under ideal conditions, Ben goes about four times a week. We have had to hunker for up to a couple of weeks in the spring. As I read this, I realize, it is past time to make a move. This has been neat, butit is nuts.

Closest airport and back in all day fiasco.

Luckily my wife works in town and can get groceries and stuff on the way home from work.

I usually don't go to town unless I need feed or diesel.

Wife wanted to fly up, get niece and fly back a few days later. A week later she'd fly back with niece and return a couple of days later. That would have been almost 1500 miles of driving.

Don't forget, some drives within cities can take an hour, or more.

Our town is out in the country but we have cheap flights to Billings where you can be at a somewhat large airport.

320 miles in a car(one way) versus 1 hour in the little plane. I've never done it but my everyone else I know flies it all the time.

Although my sister did fly out of Williston today on her way back to CA.

I am 8 miles east of a small town. 75 miles to a full service airport and the town near it even has a Cabela's. As I get older I like having the medical services as close as they are (10 miles).

I'm 6 miles from the closest small town. I drive 35 miles to a big town to work everyday.

There are two small grocery stores, one north the other south, about 17 miles away. If you're serious about putting food in the cupboard, you gotta drive 40 miles to Altoona or pay higher prices locally. Work is 21 miles one way for me and twice that for Wifey.
Of course, it's a 10 step walk to hunt, or use the rifle range!

I'm 7 to 9 miles from four small towns, my mailing address is listed in one town, my phone number is listed in another town, and I am in the fire district of a third town.
