Are people loading these down or full tilt? I was going to start with R15 as it has worked so well with the 250 grain bullets. Anyone using R17 for these and what sort of velocity are you getting? I hope to come close to 270 Win. 150 grain trajectory so I can extend the range some.

For the Speer 235 grn bullet I'm using 81 grns of IMR 4350 which is one grain below max and getting about 2760 fps with my chronograph and good accuracy.

The load I have used for years has been 76 gr of W748. It develops 2800 fps and, more importantly, the bullet works really well at that speed. You can exceed 3000 fps with the right powders but i have never bothered.

It's been a long time ago but I used IMR-4064 under the 235 gr., .375 bullet. I want to remember I was going the opposite direction from you and was loading them lighter. Regardless, I do remember the load was accurate.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Regardless, I do remember the load was accurate. Same here. I was trying to duplicate 35 Whelen power level. 68 grs of IMR 4064, Fed 215 and Nosler cases and 3.6” o/all gave me 2550 fps and consecutive 4 shot groups of 0.8” and 0.9” (first 3 in 0.3” and 0.5” respectively). I may have to try it on white tails this year.

RL15 was the "magic powder" for me in .375H&H. IIRC, 76 grains of RL15 got me to 2830 fps under a 235gr TSX in a 26" barrel. Stopped there because it was sub MOA to 550 yards and fast enough for what I needed. Current Barnes online reloading manual says that 81.5gr of RL15 will get you to 3,000 fps... Barnes 375H+H Loads

This is a bullet you can load to some variation and it will still perform. When I began using a .375 in the 70's the limited data compared to today had 88gn of (IMR)4350 as the top load. This was heavily compressed to the point that sometimes it bulged cases in the shoulder are and even allowed the bullet to move forward because there was no cannelure on the 235gn Speer.
These days I have topped out with 80gn of Rel 15 for 2852fps, 87gn of H 4350 for 2949fps, 80gn of Rel 19 for 2262fps (Very unimpressive velocity), or 79gn of Varget for 2982fps, John

I load them over 69gr or reloader 7 and Winchester magnum rifle primer, Remington brass. Both my #1 and my model 70 love em. Those bullets are mighty cheap too. Wanna try some of those new barnes 270 LRX

Would the little 235 gr Speer be a good choice for black bear or elk from a 375 H&H?
Thanks, Guy

they are softer I believe but they seem to shoot fine. I shot a deer with one at about 115 yards. If it expanded, it didn't do it much judging from the exit wound so they must hold together pretty well.
