Awesome. The 99 E in 303 is about the pinnacle of a 99 in balance form and function. IMO

This thing shoots great. Loading a 150 Hornady RN. Right on the sights in second notch at 100 yards.

Real nice. I am going to try the .303 savage with cast bullets on deer this fall. (2018) Any idea of the FPS of the 150 Hornady from the carbine barrel?

The only advantage of the 303 over the 30-30 was the heavier bullet and a more accurate platform (the 99).
With a 150, you can edge the 30-30 a bit but the advent of flextips for it equalizes things.
An 1899 303 with a rifle buttplate, long barrel and good irons is a joyful thing to carry and hunt with.
Hang that hook just inside your bicipe and you'll out shoot any Winchester.

The load I am shooting is pretty mild but it's getting just over 2500fps.

Meat in the freezer always nice. With a 99 even better. Like to hear we all are still using the good old ones. {99's}

Great job on the hunt! I need to find a 99E .303....and a 22 HP. I don’t have one of those..... The E’s are my favorite! I know....Good luck on the 22HP. David Royal had a pretty rough one for sale at the last Fest I attended. Maybe should have bought it....
