Ok, I bought a CZ 527 .222 today from a guy and the rifle had belonged to his grandfather that passed away several years ago... The rifle was made in 1997... Well the guy that I bought it from had never shot the rifle because he simply is just not into firearms at all. Well anyway his grandfather had not probably shot the rifle himself other than to just sight it in... The rifle is mint, just like you had pulled it out of the box... Well here is the problem... I took it out to shoot it some this evening and after about the fourth or fifth shot it went click and nothing happened, misfire.. I ejected the round and looked at the primer and it was a light primer strike.... I chambered another round and the same thing but this time when I lifted the bolt handle the rifle FIRED....So after I gathered myself....I decided to try shooting it again and see if maybe by some chance I was imagining what had just happened and just maybe I had touched the trigger by mistake or ???.... Well the rifle worked perfectly for 5 more shots and then click...I pointed the barrel safety toward the bank where I had been shooting and lifted the bolt handle slightly and it FIRED again..I've owned CZ 527 rifles for the better part of 20 years and I have never had this problem happen before.. So can someone tell me what's going on with this rifle? It would be appreciated....
Thanks

I'd take the bolt apart and clean it real good. Then try again.

Have you taken the bolt apart to see what it looks like inside? That would be my first step. Could be gummed up with whatever whoever sprayed in there over the years.

This definitely sounds like something is gummed up. Probably the bolt and firing pin, but potentially the trigger group.
The good thing is the CZ is easy to tear down and the trigger group is open/accessible. Detail strip it and clean it all up and try again.

Ok....I stripped the bolt down and cleaned it. I did notice a couple of very small metal shavings around the firing pin that came off on my cleaning rag. I'm thinking that was probably the culprit....I'll try it again tomorrow and let you know...
Thanks guys....

If that doesn't work, try a new firing pin spring.
I have 4 527's and one of the 7.62x39's I got did exactly what yours did. Disassembly showed no debris. A call to CZ and they sent me a new spring, never had another issue after I installed it.

Check the inside of that bolt to make sure there aren't any machine marks or rough cuts that the fp spring could get hung on. Just wondering if those shavings could have torn loose from something inside there that needs smoothed up. I'm not real familiar with that design.

RH Clark,
I'll keep it in mind if it does it again and I'll know what to do...As a matter of fact I'll call CZ Monday and go ahead and have them send me a spring. Might as well change it out. It won't hurt nothing... Well I shot it today after tearing down the bolt and cleaning it and shot it several times and everything is good so far...Thanks for the help everybody...
