Hello Everyone, I recently picked this little rifle up at my local gun show, and was hoping some of the mauser buffs on this website could help me identify the model of this little mauser. To me, it looks like an early Post-War (1948) BRNO 21H having a rounded, knurled action, round bolt knob and a single trigger..... I am having trouble finding another rifle with this configuration, so I am hoping someone will chime in. Either way, I am still excited about the find and am hoping to start loading for it soon. Please excuse the terrible photography. Thanks in advance for your time! https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/galleries/12538749/brno-8x57s

actionwise the BH is not original and appears someone has installed a military two-stage trigger. ...some say there were rare examples that came with ZG47 style single trigger (which are quite distinct and identifiable in shape), but I've never seen one such orig. example.

These were during the later production, one of the dozen 21/22 and ZG Brnos I have had, is of this type and these also have the fine ZG safety.Probably the single finest sporting bolt action ever produced and would cost a LOT of $$$$$$ to make now.

The bolt handle is not a BRNO design. Maybe an old Win 70 bold handle?
The trigger is also not a BRNO trigger. Might be a military trigger.. but have not seen this on either rifle.
From my understanding the round 21/22 BRNO where the early models.. while they came with the integral square bridge design later.
However, its a VERY fine rifle!! LUCKY DOG!!!
I would get a new butt pad, and maybe get a new bolt handle, ala the ZG-47... and use it.

If I found one like that at a reasonable price I'd be on it pretty quick. I think the stock bolt handle and double triggers are two things that need to be changed on the original rifle!

They're a wonderful rifle, IMO. Needs to be capable of having a low mounted scope on board and a single trigger and 3-way safety to be functional though. I'd be all over that example if I ran into it!

I have dies, bullets and brass on their way, and I also am one who prefers a single trigger and rounded bolt handle. This rifle has obviously been well-loved, so I was happy to pick it up in this condition with the intention of using it. Does it seem to be an altered 21H?

Nice looking stock. I'd just shoot it and not worry about the history unless you decide to sell it.

I'll be shooting it, but I enjoy researching the history of the older rifles I have the privilege of owning.
