Other than ID and NM, you can get bonus or preference points. Some states require you to buy a hunting license to get a point. Some states have significant point fees. Bonus gives you extra chances to draw a given tag so is up to Lady Luck. Preference puts you in line for the tag and depends how many are ahead of you. If you only want points then no option in some of the states so have to apply for a tag but if you only apply for the toughest hunt for that species in that state then likely are less than 1 in 100 odds will end up with that tag. If you do end up drawing that tag, will be a good one to have.
Points only: AZ, CO, KS, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY

To just buy points without the whole license fee , you can in Wyoming. Deadline for that is Oct. 31st for the coming year .
