I would like to try some of these in a 300 wsm. I am aware that there are 'better' options out there for the wsm but I can get these really cheap. How do they shoot? Are they finicky? The advertised bc accurate?

Thanks

I have only used the 178 ELDX version and shot them to 800+ but my dial ups were spot on using the advertised BC with every ELDX or ELDM bullet I used (refreshing after using mostly nosler the last 10 years). I am shooting the 178 ELDX at 3180 fps out of my 24" barrel. Worked really well on taking two bull moose this past fall.

Thanks a_l, it is good to know that the numbers are accurate. I presume you are shooting a 300 WSM? I think these probably sell a lot slower than 208s (might be wrong) with people chasing BC, but I am looking for a 'higer velocity' option and the 178s does have decent numbers for their weight. I got a new light palma brux barrel for my 300 wsm that will be finished at 28" and it should be ready to go within the next month.

Yeah the 178s do have really good numbers compared to most other 180 class 30 bullets and seem to perform well on moose atleast. Yes both moose "one was a 71" bull" were shot beyond 300 yards (327 and 412) from the my 24" barrel 300 WSM shooting them just over 3180 fps. While they work the ability of the 208 to drift less in the wind is appealing...but hard to mess with a good combo. wink
