Going through the safe I have realized I am never going to shoot this gun, so it needs to find a new home. The story I got with the gun was it has not had a full box of shells run through it. It is a red pad, tang safety 770 serial number. The bolt will open with the safety on. 24" barrel and no sights $650.00 shipped to lower 48 to your FFL.

No, has been sitting in my safe and is pretty much unmolested. These are the only marks that I know of looking at it. Check out the trigger guard and the right side of the butt stock.

I've got a well-worn version of the same rifle, cut to 22". It's a great way to .338.

Ruger put Douglas barrels in those guns the perfict weight too .They don't kick up like other 338s either .I can shoot.mine as fast as a smooth double with that safety .They are accurate and smooth to bolt a million times better rifle that the junk Ruger is making today !

Agreed. This is the spitting image of my first tanger 338. Solid rifles. I should have held onto it.

One for the Sunday crowd. The bluing on this gun is still the nice deep blue shiny out of the box blue.

For the Monday crowd. Might just stuff it back in the safe to collect dust.

Ruger quit using Douglas barrels about 1973. This one I am sure would shoot just fine anyway.

I have an early 1973 tang safety M77RS in .338WM with a Douglas or Wilson barrel. Doesn’t matter which barrel supplier since it shoots MOA accuracy with most reloads. The stock design & balance tame felt recoil fairly well. These are really nice rifles.

I have several 77s that I like to shoot. This one just does not trip my trigger. Beautiful gun though. If it helps any I have a box of loaded Hornady 225gr. SSTs that go with it.
