Good looking critters! Been on two trips to Texas hunting exotics. 1st hunt was a combo aoudad/turkey in spring. 2nd hunt was a spring axis/turkey combo. Both great trips and we saw lots of game. Wife and I flew into San Antonio both times, we spent a few days there then drove out to the ranch to hunt. Hope to get back again and would recommend it.

I've had a great time hunting red stags with my older Winchester in 30-30. Stalking to get within good shooting distance is not always easy and not every stalk works out as planned. That's what makes it fun for me. The meat from a red deer is quite good, too!

I’ve shot hogs in Texas on ranches where there were exotics but just couldn’t bring myself to pay for any of em. I say this knowing all Texas isn’t the same so not slamming the OP but the experience where I had the opportunity wasn’t anything like the free range conditions under which I’d prefer to hunt them.
If I could find a place where free range was a priority and I could get out of the box blind away from the feeders and hunt I’d love it. Always wanted an axis and aoudad is toward the top of my list for sure!
Great pics by the way very cool. Thanks for sharing!

I have hunted/do hunt exotics, nowadays primarily for the meat- this past fall, I took a Fallow buck and doe. The meat from these critters is just fantastic! A few years ago, I hunted a Nilgai bull, same result- wonderful tasting meat. Two years ago, I handgun hunted for a Red Deer hind and a meat hog. This coming fall, I will hunt for a Sika buck and another Fallow doe to fill the freezer for the coming year.

I went once 8 years ago. Shot an aoudad, blackbuck, and a scimitar horned oryx. Would like to go again if I could find very large place or a free range place with good axis, sheep, and javelina.

Those blackbuck are gorgeous. Way back when, we used to stop at Natural Bridge to rest on the way to the in-laws and the little zoo there had a small herd roaming around with the goats. Never could get them to come to me for food; they'd just sidle off if I got too close.

Took this Nilgai bull in December- had to dodge a major snow/ice storm on the way home. This was a big bull, a real freezer-filler!

I do, but I shot mine before immigrating here. For now, I like American animals. John
