Just as the Zumbo issue was heating up, House Rep. McCarthy of NY has authored an assault weapons ban Bill #1022 on 021307.
The Bill calls for the cessation of sales of all AR's that meet the usual requirements as before such as: shrouded barrel, folding stock, excess of 10 round magazines and generally black and mean looking. Included is the Sturm Ranch Rifle. So I thought I'd post it here for all you "pseudo terrorists". If someone can post a link to the Bill you can read the list of rifles and pistols listed.
Considering the Democratic numbers in the House and Senate, it may proceed quickly.

THE MOST SWEEPING GUN BAN EVER INTRODUCED IN CONGRESS;
McCarthy Bill Bans Millions More Guns Than The Clinton Gun Ban

On Feb. 14, 2007, Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 1022, a bill with the stated purpose, "to reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes."

McCarthy's verbiage warrants explanation. Presumably, what she means by "assault weapons ban" is the Clinton Gun Ban of 1994. Congress allowed the ban to expire in 2004 for multiple reasons, including the fact that federal, state and local law enforcement agency studies showed that guns affected by the ban had been used in only a small percentage of crime, before and after the ban was imposed.

With the nation's murder rate 43% lower than in 1991, and the re-legalized guns still used in only a small percentage of crime, reauthorizing the Clinton Gun Ban would be objectionable enough. But McCarthy's "other purposes" would make matters even worse. H.R. 1022 would ban every gun banned by the Clinton ban, plus millions more guns, including:

. Every gun made to comply with the Clinton ban. (The Clinton ban dictated the kinds of grips, stocks and attachments new guns could have. Manufacturers modified new guns to the Clinton requirements. H.R. 1022 would ban the modified guns too.)

. Guns exempted by the Clinton ban. (Ruger Mini-14s and -30s and Ranch Rifles; .30 cal. carbines; and fixed-magazine, semi-automatic, center-fire rifles that hold more than 10 rounds.)

. All semi-automatic shotguns. (E.g., Remington, Winchester, Beretta and Benelli, used for hunting, sport shooting, and self-defense. H.R. 1022 would ban them because they have "any characteristic that can function as a grip," and would also ban their main component, called the "receiver.")

. All detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles-including, for example, the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22 .22 rimfire-because they have "any characteristic that can function as a grip."

. Target shooting rifles. (E.g., the three centerfire rifles most popular for marksmanship competitions: the Colt AR-15, the Springfield M1A and the M1 "Garand.")

. Any semi-automatic shotgun or rifle an Attorney General one day claims isn't "sporting," even though the constitutions of the U.S. and 44 states, and the laws of all 50 states, recognize the right to use guns for defense.

. 65 named guns (the Clinton law banned 19 by name); semi-auto fixed-magazine pistols of over 10 rounds capacity; and frames, receivers and parts used to repair or refurbish guns.

H.R. 1022 would also ban the importation of magazines exempted by the Clinton ban, ban the sale of a legally-owned "assault weapon" with a magazine of over 10 rounds capacity, and begin backdoor registration of guns, by requiring private sales of banned guns, frames, receivers and parts to be conducted through licensed dealers. Finally, whereas the Clinton Gun Ban was imposed for a 10-year trial period, H.R. 1022 would be a permanent ban.

Please be sure to contact your U.S. Representative and urge him or her to oppose
H.R. 1022!

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

I'm glad he did-------I just read about it for the first time. Nothing wrong with sounding the alarm on all channels.....

BTW, I'm kinda surprised the b!tch authored this bill so far prior to the '08 election. I expected the Socialists to lay low and not show their true colors so quickly before sealing up the White House.

A of people lost their jobs in congress after the last AWB. While I will fire off a letter to Trent Lott. I don't think any AWB is going anywhere this time. Truth be known most of these guy's enjoy job security more than their liberal agenda's.

It is in Judiciary Comitee now, it needs to die there. If it hits the floor then it has to be debated and voted on. I really would hate to see another telivised circus like the last one. carfully coreographed to put out the mis information, and outright lies the anti's want

i only read some of the forums, personnelly i'm glad someone sounded the alarm so to speak. my busi schedual has kept me off the boards for weeks. if they had not posted so many times i most likely would have missed it.

since i did catch the alarm. i have canceled a meeting so i can look into this as it is important to me. signed some petitions and fired off some otherwise unsent e-mail comments to my represenitive and govenor.

if my comments are but 1 billionth the reason my represenitive or someone steps up and stops/slows/impeeds or derails such a crap piece of work by a corrupt minded politician. then i did my part.

i'm retired,,,or is it Really tired,,,i forget

retirement is to dang busi for me...

This bill has been presented every year for the last six, it has been ignored but since the libs have control now it could go further than commitee. If (god forbid they manage to retain control or get into the White House in '08 then heven help us keep any freedom. Look at it this way, regardless of what they said before the last election, since they have had power(less than two months) they have raised taxes, called for a total pullout of troops from Iraq, threatened to defund the military.and now more gun control, even after the last AWB when they lost congress and admitted that they were removing gun control from the Democrat agenda, they come up with this a more restrictive law than the last one. The dems need to be shown once and for all this ainfringment of out constitution will NOT BE TOLERATED. Get them into the minority where they belong. Not only defete Ms Klinton or whomever they run. But any incumbents they run for reelection in '08 FED State and local elections vote other than DEM.
