I have a old savage I painted years ago I took the paint off been thinking of a different finish just for the heck of it. I wondwer if hard chrome would stay on the barrel or if it will come off after several shots

If it's done properly it'll stay on just fine. They chrome line the bores of AR's, and the inside of a barrel see's a much harsher life than the outside.

Just make sure the bore and chamber is protected to keep the chrome out. Also if he's doing you a favor and running it at the end of the bath life, ie the bath is shot and he's about to dump it, you might not get a quality coating.

We plated it yesterday afternoon it turned out great I lighty hit the barrel with the blaster lightly I mean lightly just enough to give it a textured finish put the chrome on top of that to create a matte chrome look I was well pleased we also plugged the chamber and all holes with silicone to keep the chrome out
