He was bitten by a cottonmouth today. Doing ok. Got him on the paw. I killed the snake.

I hope he gets better soon, that sucks he got bit , I would be worried sick.

Poor houla had her first porcupine encounter yesterday. Only got about eight quills, and I was able to get them out by hand and intact. Here she is during recovery:

Jyd (junk yard dog) after his bath , took 3 of us to do it. He hated it when it was going down. But loved being able
to sleep inside with us finally.
One of my squad leaders SSG Potts told me about the alpha dog of the train yard following his squad on patrols at night.
This dog was uncanny. We got him tamed out , feeding him, got him coming in the compound
Never would follow or lead daytime patrols. Only night , we stop for a break or security halt , jyd would break off ahead or behind until we start moving again.
I can't even remember the number of times that dog would start barking or low growling
Cause of ragheads in the area. Watched him 3 separate times Rip a new ass in haji
The dog was uncanny, watched him one time take on 3 other dogs and whip their hides
Spend his days on the marble floor in our sleeping area racked out, and nights walking with our patrols
Give him belly rubs or rub his back just above his tail , he couldn't get enough. Start whinning if you stopped too soon
for him.
Dogs hate arabs.
We didn't have the ability that early in the war to bring him back
We turned him over to the Stryker unit out of fort Lewis that took over our area.
Just remembered this dog , dug thru pictures , hellava dog!!!

Home today from mother-in-law funeral. Didn't shed a tear until the family was going through pictures and had one of her with a schnauzer of ours. Family thought it was for the mom they lost...I let them think that, but I miss the schnauzer every day.
