For anyone shooting a Barrett Fieldcraft short action

I have one in .243 coming Monday and just realized unlike Forbes/NULA's they do not come with Talleys.


For those with one will a Swarovski Z3 3.5-10x42 work with low"s? I found out the hard way with my Kimber Montana that any scope bigger that 40mm needed mediums.

Call Talley. They know.

They told me a VX-5 2-10x42 (30mm) would fit with lows.

Lows work on mine with the LRHS and 3.5-10x40 Leup so you will be fine.

The SS 3-9x42 works in Talley lows. If you mic the outside diameter of the bell on your scope and post it - I can tell you for sure in a second...

edit to add: the bell on the SS 3-9x42 is 1.955" diameter and clears the barrel by about 3/16".

You guys are all saying such and such will fit but they are all 30 mm tubes. The Z3 is a 1" scope. This is generally speaking (no field craft experience) but it is common to be able to use lows with a 30mm tube/40-44mm objective where a 1" tube/40-44mm objective will be pushing the envelope.

rovert you are correct I didn’t stop to think about that before but since the center line of the tube is around 2.3mm higher 30mm scopes with a 40mm objective should ride higher in low's than a 40mm on a 1" tube.

Called Talley and they said lows will work for up to 50mm so I ordered them.

I have the same scope on my fieldcraft and works great. Enjoy the new rifle they are a joy to shoot
