I mean bigger than coyotes.... but that’s just me.
Actual field 127 LRX dope is within .1 MIL of 123 Amax dope at 600... they’re virtually indistinguishable.
123 Amax/Scenar/CC for practice and play.... then 127 for killing... wouldn’t be a bad way to go.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

Within .1 mil, yea that makes sense to me because I won't be taking this rifle past 600 anyway, rarely past 450 in my AR Deer/Hog hunting, I use a different rifle with bigger optics and set up better for Distance when I go to WY. For Varmits with the A-Max, however far I can tag them. Thanks

I'm seeing lots of references to how well the 139 Scenar does on game. I haven't shot any of those, but the 136L is easily the best shooting bullet out of my 6.5 Creed. Good velocity too. Currently I am kind of defaulting into the 143 ELD-X for game, but if I had confidence in the terminal performance of the 136L then it would be all I shot. Anyone have any input on this? Is jacket thickness and core hardness about the same on the 136L vs the 139? Could I expect similar terminal performance?

I've successfully hunted with the 123gr and 139gr Scenars, and they both penetrate and expand well, and make for decent hunting bullets. However, I don't think you can assume the 136L behaves the same way, just because they have the same brand name.
They're a different generation bullet from Lapua, and may differ in core material, jacket material and overall design. Certainly the open tip looks smaller to me. My concern would be around whether they expand reliably.

That is exactly my concern, and was hoping someone had some real world experience with them.

I’ve got one experience with the 136L out of my 6.5 SAUM, 235 yard shot at antelope. Through both shoulders, made a nice hole in the lungs, he dropped on the spot and kicked for about a minute then expired. Exit hole side: Vitals:

Right now I have settled on 42.0 of H4350, CCI BR2 primers, Hornady Brass, and 143 ELD-X seated at a total OAL of 2.910. I will be getting out in the next few days to chrono them and taking them long. I plan to use this load for spring bear - if it performs good, I will keep it. If not, may look at the 139 scenars.

Ya it should hurt shiit perty good. I’ll run it in Montana and Alberta this year, shouldn’t disappoint... I’ve also thought about runnin 123 scenars in it too. Grin The 127 lrx may be your only option for any sort of penetration from a 6.5 Wby. I doubt may of the 120 class bullies can really stand up to 3500 fps and still penetrate well. Hell the 127 lrx our of your weatherby may be akin to the way 143 eld/ 140 vld act from the 6.5x47 and creedmore which may not be a bad thing. I will be at Fred’s Saturday and should have my 6.5 WSM in tow to see what it will do with the 143 eld and 140 vld. They should hit about 3250 fps but that may be too much of a good thing. If all goes well the plan is try to to run one into a coyote on Sunday. If they explode dogs I will be back to the drawing board.

16 big game animals from deer, to caribou, to grizzly bear with the 143 eldx in the 6.5. Works just great on all of them. Also ran that bullet out to 1400+ on steel too. The BC seems spot on and I see no reason to change to anything else at this point.

I'm casually looking for a deer hunting bullet for my 6.5, and my Tikka T3X prints the 143ELDX into very small clusters. What ranges did you kill these animals? I'm as much or more concerned about a close encounter as I am a long one, even though we hunt primarily open country. Thanks.

Was using 210GM and seated a touch shorter to feed in a Predator magazine. It was a dog.....I never cracked 2600 fps. Has me looking elsewhere for a load. Lots of good reads on RL-26. But I cannot find any...and it's difficult to wrap my head around how a powder that slow is anywhere on the radar of a dinky case and normal bullet weight as the 6.5/143 combo. Temp stability not what the H series is either.

Give Reloder 16 A try with the 143 ELD-X. I'm using 43.5 gr of Re 16 in Lapua brass with CCI 450 primers. Im getting 2800 fps in a Tikka CTR 6.5 CM. Bullets are seated out long, thanks to room in the CTR mag. Chronographed over a LabRadar.
Very accurate as well, under 0.5 moa

Thanks Kimber7man. I have exactly one experience with it as well. Watched my son shoot a doe at 540 yards. She ran a bit, maybe 40 yards or so. He caught her a touch far forward, not bad. Damage seemed acceptable, but with location and shot angle it was not a good test, and one shot is far from conclusive. That is why I was hoping to hear of more experiences with it.
