I recently acquired a M-70 DBM model in .284, and am unable to find much info about it online. I believe they were made in the early 1990's, but the one site I found that references DBM does not list .284 as an available option. Am traveling now and can't post pics for a few days. Is anyone familiar with this gun, or have some links that might provide info? Thanks for your help...

Far as I know that was the only way they produced the model 70 in the 284 was in the dbm. Not many were made from what info I was able to find.

The DBM was a very limited run item - only 3+ years, IIRC.

Here are the pics, any additional information would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to find some Winchester historical reference or catalog mention of the rifle. Below the pics is a link that a friend found from this forum that is 14 years old. Thanks again...

Love the backdrop to your 1st picture! Neat stuff. Love the 284 Win. Trying to get mine in a M100 to operate correctly at this time. Sweet rifle you have!

Thanks, the whole room is decorated in that fashion. Apparently there were feeding issues with the .284 in both the Winchester 88 and 100. The best description of it and other info about those rifles I have found is in the following link. Anybody who has an 88 or 100 in any caliber should have this info...

Ruger77, hope you're successful. A buddy of mine went through this about 5 years or so ago with his late father's M100 (chambered in 308 Win), and, between YouTube and recall replacement parts froms the factory--as well as bedding the forend tip, he's able to shoot 150 NBTs over Varget into about 1.5" at 100 yards. Action feeds slick as snot.

I have a M70 in .284. The rifle was given to me by an older friend. It is not stock. The action is a post ‘64 short action which had been a .308 in a previous life. The action was squared, fitted with a 24” Douglas barrel, and placed in a factory lam win stock loaded with remnants of a hot glue bedding job. The smith knew his stuff, as I have never had an issue with feeding or extraction.

I purchased a black Win extreme weather synthetic stock, bedded it, and attached Talley lw’s. I typically shoot nbt’s over 760 and am surprised when it doesn’t shoot an inch @100 yds.

I've replaced almost everything I can without spending $300+ for one of the parts (can't remember what it is) that is still available. I've had the chamber polished and it still won't eject properly. It's better, but still not functioning properly. In one of the forums on here, a gentleman posted that he has a 284 that was doing what mine is and he had jumped through all the hoops with no success, but then he found a single spring from Wolff gun springs to take the place of the dual recoil spring system in the rifle and it cured his problem so I'm cautiously optimistic. Anyway, I have one on the way.
