Greetings to All! Ok, who has a 224 Texas Trophy Hunter? How do you like it? What twist are you running? What barrel length? Have you tried shooting any of the heavier grain bullets that are intended for the new Valkrie? You know... just more rifle looney stuff when your bored Thanks, Tom

I built mine about 12 years ago. It has 1-9 twist and shoots 75 gr. A-Max's, has been a great rifle for deer and antelope. I don't remember the barrels length off the top of my head, but I think it's 30"

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking of doing. A deer / antelope rig. I have a spare push feed M70 action laying around. Initially was thinking of a 240 Weatherby. Just wanting to be different .

How big a velocity difference between a TTH and a 22-243 (22 catbird)?

I don't have personal knowledge of 22-243 velocities, but 45.8 grains of RL-22 will drive a 70gr. Barnes TSX to 3535 fps out of a 24" barrel w/ 1 in 8 twist. I tried loads up to 46.3 grains but velocity became erratic. Can't wait to try Nosler's soon be to released 70gr. .224 Accuband.

The Accubond should be a contender in the TTH. Has anyone tried the 90s?
I don't own one but friends that do were using the 75 grain Amax at around 3500 fps. If you do a search on the original data the earliest loads were by guess and by golly and were smokin hot, literally. This is where the 800 rounds to a toasty barrel rumor got started. If you back off each incriminate reduced will add to the barrel life.
