No. I don't feel like I've been played.

I feel like Trump has an extraordinary job to do and all the egomaniacs that reluctantly got on board after he won the election can't bring themselves to admit they were wrong and simply support what the man is doing. There's a lot of ignorance in this country about how corrupt the federal government is. The McCabe firing is much bigger than people realize and is evidence that Trump can do, and not just talk.

One of the truest statements ever. The majority of people have a blind faith in our politicians , instead of holding those in power accountable. Most people are to distracted to pay attention or really think. As long as they have their smart phones, internet, and Facebook it won't get better. Both parties like to play Santa Claus buying off voters, instead of doing what's best for the country as a whole.

For those that like to decry and trash on Trump, do you really think he is any worse in his personal life ( cheating on wives) or screwing over people than the politicians? If so, you better take a better look at history, which is replete with cheating politicians. Is Trump a Saint? No. Is he "presidential" ? Not in the way we think of it. He was elected because the majority of people woke up and decided they were tired of the status quo. Trump has been fighting the left, the right, the overall establishment, and liberal biased media. He has been getting a lot done to MAGA and isn't being credited for it. I'll say his style needs some work but I didn't vote for his style, I voted for him to fix the problems and the wrong direction this country was going. I'll vote for him again too.
If everyone would really open their eyes and look how Hillary and the DNC went after Trump with the Steele dossier and Mueller witch hunt, they'd see all the real corruption that it's brought to light. Especially at the top of the FBI and DOJ.

Trump is alot of things, many of them are self serving. I fully believe Trump will leave the white house wealthier than he came in, his family will be set for life at Rockefeller, Hearst, Getty levels and he'll successfully revamp his global brand - and all of that will have come at the expense of him taking time and resources away from the American public.

That said, as long as his agenda keeps pushing America in the direction I think it needs to go, I'm never going to regret supporting him over Hillary, and for that matter the rest of the GOP .

Much of that was either expected or not an issue to the public that voted for him. I don't even understand why he is fighting the porn star. I think most of his voters would be surprised if he didn't sleep with a porn star at some point.

I first heard "Drain the Swamp" sometime before 2010.

I was in a small group being given a talk by the mayor of Cleveland, Ohio. At that time 30 or 40 county officials had been indicted for corruption, and there was an issue on the ballot to change the form of county government. The mayor and most of the career politicians opposed it. The phrase "drain the swamp" was being used by the proponents of the ballot issue.

During the Q and A session, I said, "It seems to me, mayor, that the only ones opposing draining the swamp are the mosquitoes and alligators."

BTW: The issue passed. The law was changed. The former head of the Democrat Party is now serving a 28-year term in federal prison. And many others were sentenced as well. Hopefully they'll emulate that for the swamp in Washington as well.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

At one time or another we have all been distracted from our primary goal. We have been duped many times, not just by Facebook.

The importance of life is more clear without distractions. The Brits may have focused too much on Royal families, taxes on the new Colonies, military uniforms, fish and chips, soccer, etc. They gradually lost sight of the prize. Their own country and the goals they had in the forties and fifties are history now, pushed off to the side of the path by outside forces, which quickly became inside influences. Us Yanks were smarter in the 1700s, some said, when we did without the Kings and Princesses and went with a Constitution and elected officials. We also went off the tracks a while ago, and there are many reasons and theories. My belief is that we have substituted preference for duty, politicians for philosophers, athletes for scholars, actresses for authorities, education for amusement, children for oracles, loyalty for "likes", service for satisfaction, and the list goes on. Where do responsibility, conscience, honor, God and Country fit?

Meanwhile China continues to rumble toward their goal--world dominance in trade, and they will proceed from there--and other nations persist in competing with China, or riding their coattails with the same intent. Are we, as a nation, being distracted by sports, rumors, porn-stars, celebrity diets, climate change theories?

Politics is one of many inescapable facets of life. We ordinary citizens lost our standing in our own governance many years ago when scheming people with a personal agenda realized that they could get what they wanted if they convinced others (veterans, farmers, voters, unemployed, soccer moms, gays, ethnics) that they would also benefit in some way. We gave birth to crooked politics decades back and continued when we believed the stories about a chicken in every pot. Once the schemers were ensconced in Washington (or downtown or in the county seat) we let our attention stray and failed to watch even our own hens.

We HAVE been duped. And we will be again. And again.

Social engineering is the phrase currently used for manipulation of others, but it has been a common theme for humans since history began.

The bigger question: do we want it otherwise? Would we have a better outcome?

If so, we better get our eyes back on our goal and work toward that better outcome. We are easily distracted and routinely duped if we lose focus or our courage falters in the face of long odds.

"If you like your doctor, you can keep him"
"Your insurance insurance premiums will go down by an average of $2,500"
"We have to pass the bill to see what's in it"
etc., etc.

I wasn't fooled, but I sure as heck know I was played.

As long as there are elections, we will continue to be played.

The concepts have been around for a very long time, going back at least to Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Which terms describing them tend to stick at any given point in history is an irrelevancy.

Yep, you all were played big time. Embarrassed? Should be, falling for Trump's horsesh*t. WTF were you thinking?

We were thinking how much we despised lying sack of chit stupid lieberals like Hillary and you. You can't begin to fathom how much.

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

It seems to me the phrases worked. Got the man elected when both political parties opposed him. In seven more years we will know if we've been duped. At least we didn't get screwed by the hildabeast!

This is a very interesting take. I'll bet a huge majority of the people who voted for President Trump had no misconceptions about who we/they were getting. I don't try to be too offensive; but, were you ever made aware of who his opponent was? I assume not, based on this statement. I think most people who voted for President Trump, faced with the choice to vote for either a) random person chosen from any random phone book; or, b) Hillary Clinton, would have chosen "a)" above.

IIRC, Washington DC used to be a swamp

drain the swamp has been around as a phrase for D.C. for years - like decades.

I was going to correct you on the point about "majority". It wasn't, as he lost the popular vote. But then I read the rest of your post. The entire post is a steaming pile of horsesh*t.
