I really don't like the "bling" of the bright receiver. Is there any way to color or tarnish it so it's not so bright?

Is the bling polished steel ? Or is it a plating ?

I pretty sure it's nickel plating. I thought about cerekote but would rather not have a barrier finish that will scratch and show the nickel. I was hoping for a way to maybe oxidize the receiver.

Far easier to get a different model... like the Black Onyx or similar...

There is French Grey but I don't think it's doable on nickel.

Take a look at this:

Craigster, that's exactly what I've been trying to find. I'll try out both methods, on different little spots.

Never tried it but Dunlap in "Gunsmithing" says this:

To Blacken: Immerse until black in the following solution, then wash and dry, (use rubber gloves):

Nickel Ammonium Sulphate 525 grains
Potassium Sulphocyanide 3 oz.
Copper Carbonate 2 oz.
Water (Distilled) 1 gallon

Which explains a lot.

Thank you gentleman. A few phone calls and emails and I should be on my way.
