If you could ask Ruger for just ONE special run in 2008, or one caliber to be added; what would it be? Preferably one that you would really buy if they made it. What caliber and what current configuration? (Please limit your answers to just one caliber and configuration. And please try to be realistic. Preferably one that ammunition is reasonably available. Long obscure calibers do not qualify, i.e.: 8x68S or .401 Win would not be considered realistic choices... ) A # 1-AB in 6.5x55 would make me very happy. After a reasonable period of time, I will tally up the answers. (BTW, it's ok to 2nd or duplicate someone else's suggestion) The idea is to see what folks would really buy if it were available. Aaaaahhh, Nice try, Teal, but Ruger does not make a current configuration in ANY rimfire caliber. Sorry, I guess I should have specified Centerfire ! Current configurations defined as: 1-A Light sporter (22" lwt bbl w/sights) Alex Henry Fore-End
1-AB Light sporter (22" or 24" bbl-No sights)
1-B Medium Sporter (26" med wt bbl W.O/sights) Beavertail Fore-End
1-S Medium Sporter (26" med wt bbl W/Sights) Alex Henry Fore-End
1-H Tropical rifle (24" Hvy bbl W/Sights) Alex Henry Fore-End
1-V Varmint rifle (24" Hvy bbl W.O./Sights) Beavertail Fore-End
1-RSI International rifle (20" bbl W/Sights) Full length Fore-End

9.3x62 in the #1 RSI, blued and walnut. With a bit more than average #1 grade wood.... <drool>

damn I can dig the 9.3x62 but would also like to see a 7x57 with a schnable forarm more like an 1899 savage or Win M70 featherweight.

.30-40 Krag with a #3 stock, barrel, and lever.

I think I could get talked into a 1-S in 7x65R.(26" w/AH forearm). Also, I would like the action to be scaled down to fit the cartridge, to get the weight down, and allow for the longer tube.

I'd dig on a 1-B (blued/walnut) in 35 Whelen. That might be too obscure ammo-wise but doesn't every #1 owner reload anyway?

1-S's in all their 1-B calibers... I have a 1-S in 7mm rem mag, very sad to see all their 1-S's stripped except for the .45-70.

I would second your vote. I was on the phone yesterday with a friend and that is exactly what we were discussing. We both wished for a 1A or 1AB in either 6.5x55 or 260 Rem.
I could also go for a 1S in 7mm Rem Mag.

Dear Grasshopper,
Your "prayers" have been answered. To my knowledge "Lipseys" is having a "special Run" of Ruger #1-A in 6.5X55 in "stainless delievered sometime mid-summer.

Well Teal, I'd just add an "r" to your 7X57 request. I like rims on SS rifle calibers..

I long ago gave up wishing for particular Ruger #1s from the factory.
You rarely get it quite right, unless you have it built yourself. Cases in point? My Whelen is not a blued B with gorgeous wood, nor is my 7mm 08. And the short barrel on my .45-70 still is soo wrong.
But my .300 H&H and .338-06 Bs are just what I wanted when I had them made. As is my 6.5 Swede in a blued and wood custom Ruger 3.
VA, they may make the 9.3x62 in a V instead of an R!
I would however go hard over for a 2/3 scale action #1 AB in wood and blue in .17HMR or even .22LR, or a full size AB in .250 Savage wood and blue.

A 1-V, in 9.3, could easily be chopped and corrected to an RSI.

A 218 in 1-A would be high on my list as would a 30-40 Krag on either the 1-A or 1-S platform. Of course, either would have to be blued with walnut. IMO, it's a waste of a perfectly good #1 to make it stainless, etc.
