My neighbor, Jack, has a one year old Tikka T3X in 30-06.
He loves the gun and hates the stock.
I don’t own a Tikka, so can’t give Jack my recommendation, so am checking the fire!

In his own words, he wants a “more substantial and heavier stock that won’t kick so hard”

Any recommendations?

B&C should fit the bill pretty nicely. It should add about 9oz to the weight. Most factory stocks come in at 28oz. The BC is right at 37. Or, there's always Boyds laminate. I've been intrigued by the At One model lately. Adds more weight and adjustable LOP/Comb.

Maybe he could just put a Limbsaver on it.

This 👆. The T3 stock is great for being factory tupperware. The Limbsaver will make it much more manageable.

Tell him to have you contact me - I have a B&C Medalist that would help with his issue and will sell for $195 shipped in the lower 48.

If recoil is his only concern, he can add weight to the butt of the stock like I did on my superlite. He can remove the Styrofoam and fill with something heavier or cut the Styrofoam and add steel rod like I did. I'm well pleased by adding a little over a 1 lb. to my stock and it balances better also.

Thanks to all for your great suggestions.
Will pass them to my buddy and let him make up his mind.
Take care!

Great suggestions. The factory recoil pad on the T3x is better than the one on the T3, but it's no Sims. My T3x Lite in .300 Win that weighs 7.125 lbs. really kicked and I felt it after just 7 rounds of 180 gr. factory ammo. Then I installed a Sims and shot my 200 Nosler ABs I loaded at 2853 fps and shot 20 rounds, and the rifle pounded me far less than it did with the factory recoil pad.
