A friend handed me a nice Win. model 100 barrel band carbine in .284. It has a solid red Winchester recoil pad and stock is of proper length . He wants a hard rubber pad to replace the red recoil l pad. The pad really really looks factory installed. I had heard of this before. I do not want to screw up an original gun. Is the solid red pad original special order???

Could be an original factory special order. The factory stopped keeping records long before the M/100's production so there's no way to prove one way or the other. I would definately not change the pad. leave it as it is.
