Old man. Nothing better than being woke up early and told you weren't going to school today, that the old man was pulling you out to go hunting. Egg sandwich wrapped in a paper towel and thermos of coffee, beat through the log roads In a 2wd F100. Hike to the top of a ridge in military fatigues rolled up to fit and wool. Remington 511 for squirrels, 742 for deer. The smell of hoppe's. Always some coca cola's in his back pack and sharp cheese with sweet bologna. Absolutely best memories of youth hands down.

Back in the 60's Dad was president of the FDNY Rifle and Pistol club so that's where I was introduced to the .22. The hunting part was pretty much self taught except for a couple of deer and woodchuck outings, Dad was a marksman but not much of a hunter.

I’m jealous of all of you that had Dads, but glad for you at the same time. I started taking my girls and boys when they were seven. The girls go with there hubbys and kids. My boy is 30, he still goes with me.

I saved $12 and bought my own .22 at 12. My grandmother bought me a sub to Outdoor Life and my allowance was paid in .22LR.
